Lip balm is the step that makes every lip product work better. Apply it before a tint to stop drying, and at night to repair. Shea butter, ceramides and plant oils do the heavy lifting; avoid balms heavy in menthol or camphor, which feel cooling but dry lips out over time.

Why do my lips stay chapped even with balm?

Usually because the balm only coats rather than repairs, or contains menthol that causes rebound dryness. Switch to a shea or ceramide balm, use a lip mask at night, and stop licking your lips, which strips the surface.

Should I use balm before or after lip tint?

Before. Apply, let it absorb for a minute, blot the excess, then apply the tint. Putting balm on top of a matte tint will break up the colour.
