Under this scheme, a sample from each shipment we import is submitted to the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) for individual laboratory testing to verify compliance. This means every shipment is tested separately before approval.
The CIIS process is implemented based on Gazette Notification No. 2064/34 dated 29 March 2018, under the Imports and Exports Control Act No. 1 of 1969. Only after passing the tests does the Department of Sri Lanka Customs release the consignment—ensuring product quality, safety, and full legal compliance.
